Tad Marine Resort, Pulau Tinggi Free and easy 2015 …

Heard about this resort in this island from a friend who just came back from a short holiday at this resort. She was talking about the good food and the beautiful beach. So I wanna find out myself about this island.

Set out early in the morning as we intended to have our breakfast at the famous and most talk-about Kiang Kee Bak Kut Tea at Kota Tinggi on the way to Tanjung Leman where we would board a speed boat to the Island.

Reached the bak kut tea house at around 10.00 am. It was very crowded. Waited for about 15  minutes for an empty table and another 40 minutes to get our food served! If you ask me how is it? I would say not bad. I am not a food enthusiast but it tastes better than any of the bak kut tea I had tried in JB. However,  I think it is not worth the time waiting for around an hour to get a meal.

After that we proceeded to Tanjung Leman jetty which was another 45 minutes’ drive through the oil palm plantation. Finally we arrived at the jetty. Well there was not much change to this jetty which we visited about 10 years ago when we went to Sibu Island except there is now a KFC restaurant.

A 25 minutes’ boat ride through the rough and choppy water took us to the only resort in the island. If not for the plastic sheets they put up at the side of the boat, we would have got our whole body wet due to the splashing water from the choppy sea.

Checking in was fast with a much waited coconut water welcome drink. Soon we were on our way to our room which is situated on the upper floor of a 2-floor long-house type building.

The room is spacious and clean.  The wash room is equally spacious. The only setback is the water pressure which is quite low to have a good shower.

They provide a mini fridge, a hair dryer and even a tv in the room. Wifi is free however it is rather slow. There isn’t much to complain about the room.

We had a quick lunch. There’s not much to choose from. Anyway what do you expect in an island?

After a rest, we were out for jungle trekking which is just behind the resort. We had 2 guides to lead us up the small hill. The trail wasn’t very tough and steep, there are steps and ropes to help you along some stretch of the trail. About 15 minutes’ climb, we finally reached our destination i.e, the small water fall. Too bad, we could not find any water falling as it was a dry season! So we didn’t stay long there as there was nothing much to see.

On our way back, we stopped at a food store set up by the villagers to get some coconut juice. How refreshing is to sip the cool coconut water to quench our thirst after hiking!

It's definitely cooling and refreshing to sip the coconut juice after a tiring trip up the hill..

In the evening, we went for a walk along the beach. The beach is beautiful with pristine soft sand.

However, the sea was quite rough with strong wind at the time we visited, not suitable for sea sports.

So we decided to soak ourselves at the swimming pool. Alas, the water is not clear with visibility less than 1 meter!

Well, I don’t think I will come back again for another holiday as the beach is full of sandflies! All together I got 54 bites !
