Part 3: Tongariro National Park, Lake Taupo and Rotorua

Day 7

We started our journey early in the morning through the oldest national park of Tongariro passing through 3 andesitic volcanoes. On the way, we stopped at Lake Taupo and visited the Huka Falls, the largest on the Waikato River before arriving at Rotorua, the most famous tourist spot in North Island. Rotorua is famous for its boiling mudpools and roaring geysers. At Rotorua, there are many hot spring spa for you to relax and rejuvenate. We also visited the New Zealand Supreme Deer Factory to see how deer placenta and other health products from deer are produced.

At night we had a grand dinner at the hotel restaurant while enjoying  the traditional Maori Hangi(feast) and Concert, displaying songs and dance of the Maori.

Day 8

Enroute to Auckland, we stopped at Agrodome to see the world famous stage show featuring sheepdog demonstration, cow milking and sheep shearing. We also got to see the various breed of the sheep around the world.

We stopped at Hamilton for lunch.

Finally we arrived at Auckland, the final destination of our journey. Immediately we were taken to Michael Joseph Savage Memorial Park to have a spectacular view of Auckland City and also Harbour Bridge. Of course we didn’t miss to visit the Antarctic Fantasyland to see the cute penguins strutting in fresh snow and ice.

In the evening, we took a vertical ride up the Sky Tower to have another angle view of the city. At night, we had our ‘Special Farewell Dinner’ at a Chinese Restaurant at Wakefield.
