I read the newspaper about the Unis ranking in Asia.. so i Googled and found out that the report will be out tomorrow or later..

So i decided to try something else.. Top uni in Malaysia.. Since i know UNIMAS wont appear in that Top Asia list..

And quite disappointing..

The source: Top Uni in M’sia | Top Uni in SEA

Reliability?

Not sure.. hehe but it’s updated on Jan 2009

For fun :D

All right, let’s see in Malaysia first..

First is USM.. expected also..

But with world ranking 845???

Wow.. that’s far far away from Top 100 Uni in the world!

MMU is doing good.. even better than UMS & UNIMAS..

Let’s see UNIMAS.. OMG!

World ranking 3297!! four figures.. lol

Adui.. sad..

Some of my friends are studying in Imperial College, LSE, NUS, Oxford and Cambridge..

Ok, lets see SEA..

NUS first.. then lots Thailand Unis… Wow

Didn’t know that Thailand is doing good as well..

At least UNIMAS is in the Top 100 SEA list.. haha.. not bad not bad..

Anyway, not all websites will show the same ranking..

They rank differently..

So u have to see the criteria they take into their ranking..

Hmmm..

err… this one is not the one mentioned in the news. Webometrics just raknks world universities according their “presence on the Web”.

    The reputable ranking is here
    http://www.topuniversities.com/
not much info on UNIMAS http://www.topuniversities.com/schools/data/school_profile/default/universitimalaysiasarawak/?from_search=true

  2. LWJ Says:

hey Doi.. yeah,i searched the web but no result for UNIMAS..

  3. Indie Says:

Reputable? THE-WQ is a British private company earning a lot of money with adverts of universities appearing in top positions. Sounds strange that Hong Kong (ex-Brit colony) appears first…

  4. Syahrul Nizam Says:

Unimas is at the ranking #88 for Student/Faculty Ratio:

  5. LWJ Says:

Hmmm.. Student/Faculty ratio.. anyway, yeah!! finally UNIMAS gets something..

  6. Kevin Says:

The world ranking doesn’t mean much lar, the most important thing is you can earn a lot of money after graduation. You know how we classify engineering school in France? According to the average salary of their students, lol…

  7. LWJ Says:

haha..yeah kev!! according to salary.. lol.. then u must earn lot to help in ur uni ranking :)

  8. Kevin Says:

As a rookie the salary is fixed to a certain amount according to the company that you work, so i cant help…

  9. kaya Says:

how much do they pay you anyway in France? I suppose it depends on location as well right?

  10. Kevin Says:

It depends on the type of company and the job u get, location…maybe. But a rookie cant get much anyway. But as lawyer or doctor you all sure earn more than engineer 1 lar

  11. kaya Says:

lol in London engineer earns more than lawyers lo, especially chemical engineers. Average for trainee lawyers around 36000, chem eng 41000 haha, don’t know about docs.

  12. LWJ Says:

wah.. london’s pay so high.. but in the end u have to come back to Malaysia to work also right?kaya, u’re doing Bar in UK?

n soon lee, u took JPA then after that must come back work right?can work at there meh?

  13. Kevin Says:

Wow, you said in London lor, my sch average is 33900 euros only.
Kaya is going to stay in UK you dunno meh?
Depends lar, if JPA doesn’t give you job then you can lor, i know some msians who work in France, since JPA didn’t give them job. So let’s pray

  14. kaya Says:

yea but soon lee 33900 is not in Paris right? it’s the same one, outside london salary can drop like GBP8000 – GBP10000 for lawyers lo.

Me ah? Well hopefully can get a job offer here when i applied this summer lo, but damn competitive la. If cannot, then maybe try Aussie or somewhere else, Malaysia is really the last choice because the professional course (Bar or CLP) has to pay yourself one, unlike UK or Australia or even Singapore where they pay for you.

Haha yup let’s all pray and best of luck to us all!
